Sorry for the lack of posts this month...we've been having some computer issues (wireless ones, so it isn't that the rats have chewed through cables.)
Here's what Leather, our eldest Rat in a Box, is up to: chewing up boxes. She pretty much goes through one day.

Some of my co-workers are bringing me their boxes so we can keep her stocked. She really likes the Girl Scout cookie ones...

Posted by: Shamisen at June 22, 2005 04:32 AMIs all that cardboard good for her? She can't eat chocolate crumbs can she?
Posted by: Eanna at June 22, 2005 04:24 PMShe doesn't eat the cardboard, just rips it into little pieces. She was not much of a chewer/nester when she was young, and we are actually wondering if there's some senility behind this: she is 33 months old.
If there were chocolate crumbs, they wouldn't hurt her, but the cookies are in plastic so there aren't crumbs in the box. (If she were only chewing up cookie boxes I'd think she was looking for the chocolate, but last night it was a pasta box that she chewed up with the same gusto.)
Maybe she can't grind her teeth down as well and the cardboard helps? I say chew away Ms Leather-you've earned it at 33 months. :) ~Rat Mom
We bow to the wise rat ~Rodentia
