Fingers crossed for Misto

misto-strawberry.jpg

Our little guy is still having respiratory issues, and it seemed to get worse over the weekend. An x-ray at the vet today shows why: a collapsed lung. (Why he has that is a mystery.)

He'll be back at the vet Thursday to have his chest tapped. We appreciate all your good wishes.

(Also we apologize for the lack of posts and responses...we owe several of you links and e-mails. If only the rats really could type and help us out with web-page-keeping!)

I'm so sorry to hear this. I had a rat who looked just like Misto. I only know about the cedar shavings causing respitory problems. Everyone always said to use the Care-Fresh, but it had a fine black dust I didn't like either, so I have always used the pine litter with the least amount of smell. I'm sure you are way more up on all these medical things than I am. I do know that miracles happen because my tiny hamster got a chest tumour which I wasn't going to put her through surgery for, but I decided to and she came through with flying colours and has been so healthy since. Could Misto have a heart problem? I will pray really hard for Misto.
