Vet trip

Rufus, Kado, and Artax all saw the vet today. We always take new rats in for an introductory visit, but I did hear some grunty breathing from Kado that I wanted checked out. (Other than the grunts, he is acting perfectly fine...no porphyrin stains, good appetite, and he's certainly not lethargic.)

Using an overabundance of caution, the vet did a chest x-ray. (I'm paranoid since Misto's collapsed lung.) It looks like Kado has a bit of an infection, but nothing dire. He's got a round of antibiotics which he is not enjoying, and hopefully that will be all he needs.

Artax and Rufus were both in great shape. And all three were adorable and friendly and charmed everyone in the waiting room, as our rats usually do.

Are you keeping this lot? How many do you have now?

Oh yes, we're keeping them. It brings us to eight. The only trouble is that it's four cages, and trying to get four playtimes a night can be tricky. Hopefully eventually all the boys (well, except Jack) will get along.

Artax is defintely a minion-in-the-making. I've been home from work for about 30 minutes and he's be harassing Kado the entire time. (I'm going to have Bandit explain what happens to rats who just won't behave!)

Hmm - clearly Riff needs to work on Artax's naughtiness levels
